The Friendcraft Community
The Friendcraft Community is made up of our members and friends, our leaders and teachers, and those who take part in our courses, classes, gatherings, and other activities.
There are four key elements we strive for in our community. They are outlined below.
THE FOUR KEY ELEMENTS OF A FRIENDCRAFT COMMUNITY
A Friendcraft Community is a community of shared values and ideas (Air)
- The shared values of the Friendcraft Community are being a good friend to yourself and to others. This is the essence of "The Friendcraft Way."
- Members engage in individual and shared study and practice of the Friendcraft Way
- Members gather to share ideas through participating in Friendcraft discussions, retreats, classes, etc.
- Members journey to their personal goals (e.g., being their own best friend, having good friends and being a good friend, achieving balance and serenity) in the company of follow companions also traveling this Way
- Members progress to the heart of community by asking questions and finding answers
A Friendcraft Community is an uplifting community (Water)
- Where members are mutually supportive and genuinely caring
- Where people find inspiration, refreshment, and renewal
- Where the spirit is lifted by taking part in the activities
- Where people feel appreciated and welcome
- Where members refrain from moaning and groaning and "dumping"
- Where people care about the community, not only about "what's in it for me"
A Friendcraft Community is a practical community (Earth)
- A community of shared work and purpose
- Service to the Friendcraft Community and Friendcraft Way
- Members work together to accomplish tasks and objectives
- Members contribute time, talents, expertise, resources, funds
- Members work together to build the community
A Friendcraft Community is a community with a vibrant social element (Fire)
- The Community that laughs together and shares pleasant times together is a vibrant community
- There is a difference between a Friendcraft Community and a social group or club
